The PLD Reference Group is an advisory group established to facilitate successful implementation of changes to PLD. It is composed of peak body, sector, Ministry and Education Council representatives.

A number of working groups have been established to report to the Reference Group regarding the implementation of specific aspects of PLD change. These working groups are composed of representatives from the Sector and the Ministry of Education.

Working Group 1 – Networks of Expertise

This working group is focussing primarily on how to strengthen networks of expertise  e.g. professional groups and subject associations as a complementary  source of professional learning and development support across the system.

Working Group 2 – Selection Process (Accreditation and quality assurance)

This group will focus primarily on ways to recognise and accredit the expertise (knowledge, skills and understandings) initially of external professional learning and development providers, particularly those funded from central sources. The group will focus on both qualities to be recognised (which may be expressed as criteria, qualities or standards) and the process of accreditation (e.g. portfolios, referee statements).

Working Group 3 – Access – National priorities (right priorities, right place, right time)

This working group will focus on how to best provide access to expertise to support:

  • High quality evaluative inquiry processes in CoL
  • How to ensure that the right provision is in the right place at the right time as schools/CoL identify their needs to deliver sustainable gains in student achievement in the National Priorities.

Working Group 4 – Communications and Change

This group will focus on effectively and timely communication with stakeholders in the wider Māori and English Medium sector to build understanding of the change that will take places as part of the PLD programme, and support the change process for schools, kura and PLD providers.
