We are consulting with you about this school, and another site in North Halswell that is available if residential development begins in this area. The consultation has two phases – face-to-face engagement followed by an online survey. The face-to-face engagement ran from 16 August to 6 September, and the online survey is now live and will close on 30 September.

Engagement process

Dr Gabrielle Wall, who has a background in education research and community engagement, is facilitating the community engagement process. Dr Wall will work with a reference group comprised of education sector representatives from the area.

Phase 1 - face to face engagement

This was a series of face-to-face public workshops to gather and explore ideas about future education provision. This is now complete.

Phase 1 update - from Gabrielle Wall, facilitator

Thank you to all those who attended consultation sessions and shared their aspirations, ideas and concerns with me. I am particularly grateful to the schools that hosted the public workshops.

I met with 239 people over the course of the face-to-face workshops, including primary and high school students, parents, Rūnanga, representatives from ECE and schools, and representatives from community and other agencies.

Phase 2 - online survey

I’ve now analysed the ideas discussed during the face to face engagement and brought together the set of ideas into an online survey. The survey is open now and closes on 30 September.

The survey questions relate to 2 different Ministry owned sites, so please take a look at this map before completing the survey

The survey is available in 4 different languages:

Even if you’ve attended a face-to-face session, please take the time to complete this survey. I appreciate your input, and look forward to seeing what the community has to say.

The results of the survey will be analysed and combined with information from the face-to-face engagement, and this will form my report to the Ministry of Education. Once again, thanks for taking the time to participate, and please encourage other people to complete the survey.
