Pacific Islands Polynesian Education Foundation Scholarships (PIPEF)

PIPEF distributes 3 types of scholarships programmes:

 

Individual (undergraduate) scholarships  Programme A - closed

Individual scholarships

Each year PIPEF awards individual scholarships to undergraduate Pasifika applicants. Scholarshipsapplicants. Scholarships are up to a maximum of $950 each.

Postgraduate scholarship

Postgraduate scholarship - closed

ThisPIPEF is offering a $2,000 scholarship annually to a postgraduate student studying to benefit Polynesian peoples.

Norman Kirk Memorial Trust Scholarships for mature students- closed

There are 20 scholarships of $1000 each.Each year the Norman Kirk Memorial Trust provides PIPEF funds to be matched by PIPEF and distributed for Pasifika scholarships. These twenty scholarships are $1000 each and awarded to mature students (students who are 25 years old and over) studying at either undergraduate or postgraduate level.students.

Scholarship criteria

Programme A and Norman Kirk Memorial Trust scholarships are provided to Pasifika students studying at tertiary level within New Zealand.  Applicants studying at private training establishments are not eligible .

Applications for all the scholarships must be emailed to pipef.board@gmail.com .

When applying, please ensure all required documents are supplied. Each year a number of applicants miss out as they fail to supply all the required documentation. Please read over the guide for making an application before applying.

Programme B - Dollar for dollar scholarships

PIPEF distributes funds to participating tertiary institutions who select their recipients using criteria determined by PIPEF. Participating institutions must match the PIPEF funds dollar for dollar.

Institutions currently participating are:

  • Otago Polytechnic
  • Massey University (Wellington)
  • Victoria University of Wellington
  • Auckland University of Technology (AUT).

You can apply for this scholarship through the relevant participating institution.

About PIPEF

PIPEF was established by an Act of Parliament in 19721972. The general purpose of PIPEF is to promote and encourage the better education of Pasifika students and to giveprovide financial assistance for that purpose. It’s funded by the Norman Kirk Memorial Trust and Ministry of Education.Ko 'etau ngaue fakatahataha te tau ikuna ai, "working together we will succeed”.
