The updated Structural and Geotechnical Guidelines (version 2.0) have been released. Following these guidelines is mandatory for all design commencing on or after 1 July 2015 for new and existing school buildings.
The guidelines form part of the Education Infrastructure Design Guidance Documents . They set out the Ministry’s requirements and expectations for the structural and geotechnical aspects of the design and assessment of both new and existing school buildings. Engineers and other stakeholders are required to follow these guidelines when undertaking work on the Ministry’s school buildings.
These guidelines were prepared by the Ministry’s Engineering Strategy Group and have been endorsed by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
