Public Achievement Information (PAI)

This includes information about how ourNew Zealand’s education system is progressing at national, regional and local levels against measures like:

  • participation in Early Childhood Education (ECE),
  • information about our children’s achievement
  • progress via National Standards and Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori,
  • how many students are gaining key NCEA qualifications by the time they leave school or turn 18.

 

PAI supports parents,such as participation in Early Childhood Education (ECE), information about our children’s achievement and progress via National Standards and Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori, and how many students are gaining key NCEA qualifications by the time they leave school or turn 18. Good quality information provides a basis for communities, iwi, families, whānau, iwiparents and local communitieswhānau to get involvedengage and collaborate with schools and kura, and with other local stakeholders to support the achievement of their students progressstudents.

The PAI strategy supports collective action with its focus on improving transparency and achievements. It also helps pin point areas that may need morepromoting the effective use of information to support improvement. It aims to make sure studentsincrease public engagement in student progress and achieve.achievement by providing good quality information for parents, families, whānau, iwi and communities.

The PAI plan is the Ministry’s 5-year plan for improving the range, quality and use of information to support improved educational outcomes. The public availability of a range of information is intended to build understanding of the progress and achievement of students at all levels of the education system, and to focus attention on where there is limited progress or barriers to achievement.

  • achievement information (National Standards, Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori and NCEA)

  • participation in early childhood education (ECE)
  • National Standards (years 1 – 8 in reading, writing and mathematics)
  • Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori (years 1 – 8 in kōrero, pānui, tuhituhi and pāngarau,)
  • NCEA levels 1, 2 and UE
  • attainment of NCEA Level 2 or equivalent qualification at age 18.
