Paid union meetings are held regularly so that unions can communicate with their members. All employees who are union members have the right under the Employment Relations Act to attend two paid union meetings throughout the year.
If the meetings are during teaching time, they should be held in such a way that the services of schools, kura, ECEs and ngā kohanga reo aren’t disrupted.
Parents and caregivers should check with their school, kura, ECE service and kohanga reo to find out what support arrangements are in place.
